LANDS END
Lands End is most famous for being England's most westerly point. The outdoor tourist attraction is one of the most visited in Cornwall. It is a place for all of the family with many attractions. With panoramic views, cliffs lashed by the huge waves, Wolf Rock off shore and The Longships Lighthouse it is well worth a visit. Beyond in the distance are the Isles os Scilly, and thousands of miles across the Atlantic is of course America. At dawn and dusk you can view a fantastic sunrise and sunset. Visitors are encouraged to stay on the pathways to preserve and protect the wild flowers like Thrift, from being trampled.
Lands End is about 45 miles (74km) from Newquay and about 21 miles (34km) from
St Ives. It is known as the end place for Cornwall and England. The
nearby Isle of Scilly can be seen from the clifftops on a clear day,
and transport to these islands are available by helicopter and boat.
The warm climate of the Scilly Isles is due to the Gulf stream, and this attracted many wild flowers and also wildlife.
