PENZANCE
Penzance is located in Southern Cornwall, about 28 miles (45 km) from Newquay. It is known as the capital of the far west of the county, and the last large town before you reach the vast Atlantic Ocean. Penzance is a Port and Market town and also known for the famous opera 'The Pirates of Penzance' by Gilbert and Sullivan. Penzance is the ideal destination for exploring the Lands End Peninsula (which used to be known as Penwith). This peninsula is extremely popular, and has some of the best coastal scenery in the UK. The beaches and cliffs can be reached by coastal footpath or by road.
Penzance is accessible
by the A38 and A30 roads, travelling down from most parts of the United
Kingdom. The town of Penzance has a beautiful sea front promenade constucted
in the eighteen forty's. There are several galleries and museums in
the town. There are also many Georgian and Regency buildings throughout
the town
centre.
Attractions in Penzance include Morrab Gardens, located in the
town centre is a attractive sub tropical garden and is used by the
general public. An interesting structure is The Egyptian House, as
it's name suggests it was built in Egyptian style.
Penlee House Museum has a large variety of beautiful paintings. Several of these paintings have come from the Newlyn school of artists.
The Market House has major Ferry and Helicopter links to the Scilly Isles.
The Golowan Festival takes place in the month of June each year.
The festival has it's Midsummer Customs, practised mainly by the locals of Penzance and other parts of Cornwall.
There is an excellent public transport system in Penzance and the area surrounding.

Travel to the Scilly isles by sea normally use The Scillonian III, and by Helicopter, the heliport is close to Tesco supermarket.
There is a minibus service from Penzance station to the airport and heliport.
There are boat trips available at the harbour, including leisure and fishing trips.
There is an tourist open top double decker bus that leaves from Penzance and travels to Lands End.
It passes through Moushole and Newlyn and travels back through Cape Cornwall.
