ST IVES

St Ives is located on the South West of the county of Cornwall, close to the part of land sticking out towards the Atlantic.ST IVESThe beautiful harbour and sandy beaches make it a very popular holiday resort destination.

There is something unique about St Ives, which is famous for attracting artists from all over the world. The Tate Gallery is a major tourist attraction in St Ives. It is also a region famous for it's beaches, surf, culture and food.

Porthmeor beach is a blue flag family beach (overlooked by Tate Gallery) is an ideal beach with it's golden sands ideal for sun bathing and the soft waves are ideal for surfing beginners. In the Summer months there are lifeguards patrolling the beach. There is also a surf school available. Porthminster beach is another beach close by, which is also a blue flag beach with subtropical plants and pretty palm trees. There is a cafe and restaurant also located here.

St Ives bay lies to the North of the town centre, and stretches from Hayle Estuary in the South to Godrevy lighthouse in the North. Also to the South of Godrevy is Gwinithian beach and is very popular for surfing.

For some of the best scenery in the region, a must visit is Penwith which lies to the west of St Ives. Penwith is famous for having it's Prehistoric sites. Nearby is Geever tin mine, which is open to visitors and is located about 5 miles (eight kilometres) from St Ives.

St Ives has several boat trips going to Seal island, and also there are Fast Rib boat trips (not for the faint hearted) which are very exciting.
